Fix for “Office Word has not been installed for the current user”

Microsoft Office Word has not been installed for the current user. Please run setup to install the application.

Yesterday I tried to open a .doc file with MS Office Word 2007. Unfortunately the following error occurredto me

The same error occured when I attempted to start any other application from the office packet.

 

The solution


1) Go to the directory: %PROGRAMDATA%\Microsoft\OFFICE\DATA
2) Delete the files from the directory
3) Run any other office application.

 

Configuration

OS: Windows 7 x86
Office version : 2007 12.0.6612.1000

    After searching far and wide, I finally found this post. Every other ‘fix’ had about 20-2,000,000 steps to fix the problem….needless to say, this was WAY easier! THANK YOU!
